I was a little disturbed when I went to the gas station yesterday to pick my roommate and I up a little soda. I chose a 20oz fountain soda for each of us...
When I went to the register to check out with my two 20oz the cashier told me, "oh the big 44 oz sodas are on sale for cheaper"... I responded with "well, I didn't want to get the big ones cause I would just throw it away, there is no way I can drink 44 oz of soda... 20 oz in itself is plenty."
The cashier went on trying to convince me that I should go dump out the cups that I had already filled and purchase a 44 oz cause it was cheaper than a 20oz.... I refused.... He thought I was crazy!!!!
It made me think about what a wasteful society we live in. It seems like most live in an attitude of who cares if it will be wasteful or not -- who cares what is better for others or for the environment... its all about what benefits ME the most...
I know there are probably things in my life where I am wasteful and I can improve that... I will keep trying. I refuse to knowingly be apart of useless consumption. Who cares if I could have saved 50 cents if I bought the big soda! I wouldn't drink it!!! I would waste it, throw it away, pour it down the drain!
Speaking of waste... When will Pocatello ever come to its senses and be more pro-active with recycling! K, sorry, just had to get that off my chest...
