Kids are fun

I've been having a ton of fun with my 2 year old niece. We share a love for music. Hopefully she'll grow up and actually be good at the guitar. I bought her a little pink guitar for Christmas - we like it. :) She's gettin the hang of how to hold it and everything. She's more of a finger picker than a strummer, which is cool. She likes listening to my headphones too. The funny thing is she likes to listen and dance run around the house while I follow her holding the ipod... its kinda a funny picture when you see it in action. The best thing is when she tells me in her sweet little voice, "I love you Sara" - melts my heart.

Last night we went to a hockey game. Saw Carolina beat Florida - it was a good game even though we were rooting for Florida cause we realllly dislike Carolina. My family loves hockey!

This one is for my friend Brian - Hey Brian, I ate at Buffalo Wild Wings today! mmm mmmm mmmm!

Well, I'm sure there was more I was going to blog about but I can't remember now.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is always a fun time in my family. Tradition includes church, driving around looking at lights, a party with stuffed olives and a cheeseball, and its a wonderful life. The morning started off great with some blueberry pancakes.. This year's Christmas Eve was definitely no disappointment. Well, there were two somewhat sad parts to the day.
# 1 was I forgot how to ice skate. Well, not really. But we went ice skating and it has been FOREVER since I've reallly skated and I can't skate anymore! I can't believe I used to play hockey. I'm so horrible now - that was a lil' disappointing to find that out. But we had a blast anyways.
#2 was when I found out I really am an OLD spinster. Well, I atleast look OLD or something. My sister and I were checking out at the store and the cashier kept looking at us. Well, she was astonished at how alike we look as she points out, as if it was obvious, that I was the mom and Janel was my daughter. Janel tried to tell her we were twins but she thought Janel was kidding but thought that we "could pass for being sisters" even though I was the mom and she was the daughter. WHAT? I couldn't say anything back and Janel and I couldn't look at each other otherwise we would bust out laughing. I didn't know how to take that cause usually I get mistaken for being younger than I actually am, not older. Must be my growing hips that look like I've bore many children. Just Kidding. I don't know what it was... but I've learned so far being in North Carolina that I'm from Ohio, I wear boy clothes, and I'm the mother of my twin sister. what a trip.

Just a few pics for ya. One is of Colleen and I wishing it was winter and not hot and humid. The other is gingerbread cookie making. Today Colleen and I roamed around the BX while Janel was returning something. Colleen was so good (as always) and talked auntie Sara into buying her a Dora Christmas Ornament. Well, it didn't take much talkin' me into it. I tend to spoil the kid. Isn't that what an auntie is for.

Experiences in the "South".

My neice is keeping me way busy. We do so much everyday. Read, go shopping, go to the park, play with playdough, dance, watch Micky's Christmas, sing, have picnics, play in her playroom.... the list could go on forever. But, it is all very fun stuff. Colleen just has much more energy than me. By the way, have you ever known a two year old who uses the word hieroglyphics?

Today we were shopping and I had an arm full of pants and shirts that were in the clearence rack of the LADIES section at Old Navy...I got a few great steals!!!! Well, as we were walking to the checkout this lady walks up to us and points to my arm full of clothes and said "I noticed you came from the boys section, I was looking for it, can you point me in that direction." We nicely pointed her towards the boys section.... but I obviously buy women's clothes that look like boys clothes? ? ? Also, on our way home the guy at the gate of the army base was checking our I.D's, I handed him mine and he gives it a good lookover and says, "ah, from the great state of OHIO!!!!!" We drive off and I wonder what he was thinking as the letters bold on top of my drivers license says IDAHO!!! People in North Carolina are very bright. ;)

Peek-a-boo

Well, Sadie loves toys. Not just any toy... the squeeky toy! Well, she's taken up this new habit of hiding her treasured squeeky toy. I walk out into the yard and what do I see out of the corner of my eye; oh a reindeer peeking out a me... Not too long later I come back out into the yard and the reindeer has found a new hiding spot.... I think its way cute!

Chocolate Milk

I sometimes just crave chocolate milk. Lucky me, Phillips 66 is just down the street - handy for my late night cravings. While most my fellow customers in the store are there for a nightly "beer run" I'm there for chocolate milk.
two things I did not know about chocolate milk:
1. In Israel, a popular way to drink chocolate milk is out of a small plastic bag. Like a juicebox, "shoco-bi'sakit" is portable and convenient. However, shoco-bi'sakit does not require a straw; instead, it is drunk by biting a corner of the bag and sucking through the small tear.
2. Chocolate milk has been suggested for use after intense workouts for its "magic ratio" of carbohydrates to protein, among other nutritional properties. For this same reason, it is may also act as an effective hangover remedy.

Online addiction

I have a new online addiction. www.steapandcheap.com
This is the first place I go to everytime I get on my computer. The sale item is always changing so I always wonder, whats on sale right now? I love the products and deals they put up. Funny thing is, I haven't even bought anything from this website yet. There is just that suspense as the page is loading... what will the current deal be? sunglasses? watch? snowboard? jacket? socks? shovel? first aid kit? It could be anything.... what will it be right now?
I have to admit, I have probably looked at this site oh, maybe 50 times so far this week. at least!
This might be a problem....

but I will let you know if I ever purchase anything from the site...
