I need to become a more informed consumer! I think its important that we know where the products we purchase come from. Am I drinking an amazing cup of joe? or am I drinking an amazing cup of joe that the hands that farmed the beans to make my amazing cup of coffee are the hands of a dying man cause he can't get paid a fair wage for his product? Did my coffee come from a farmer that slaves his whole life away, not able to support his family and because of that his children can't get an education let alone nutrition to live a normal healthy life? Am I drinking a product that through the process of production the farmers are getting poorer and the middle man keeps getting richer? What am I consuming?
Buy fair trade coffee... and look into the other products you consume. . .

Blindness

Yah, really didn't like this book - It def. wasn't an easy read and it just makes you walk away from it wondering "what are we, as humanity, really capable of?" To the core is there something in us that causes us to just resort to animal instincts and behavior when all we know of is lost or can we continue to be capable of living out of kindness, compassion, and care towards others? I believe mostly the latter would be at the core of human existence, however this book seemed to point otherwise and I do have to admit there are a lot of times and instances past and present where we hear of the afore mentioned being what is more prevalent in humankind.

Do you ask yourself that often? "What were they thinking?"
Coming home from Christmas I was taking a shuttle home from Salt Lake City Airport. Well, we stopped at a gas station and while the driver ran inside real quick one of the other passengers got off the bus. A minute later I looked out my window and here was that passenger right outside my window leaning over the gas pump smoking his cigarette. I looked over at the guy sitting across the isle from me cause we both noticed this man at the same time - the guy across the isle jumped off the bus and told smoking man to put out his cigarette. The smoking man seemed somewhat annoyed! Hello, Highly Flammable! What the heck was he thinking? I feel like I almost got blown up that night... :)
